Clipping day winter evening. After a hard workout and an even harder day of work. I only dream about one thing – a good supper and a glass of wine, or maybe two? Alcohol is very caloric, learn more to better control your diet and training!
By ordinary alcohol, we mean ethyl alcohol, which is used for the production of various types of alcoholic drinks, pure and quality vodkas, mead and various types of liqueurs and liqueurs. Chemically, alcohol is one of the organic compounds containing one or more hydroxyl groups. Ethyl alcohol is quickly absorbed from the digestive tract – after 5-10 minutes after drinking it can be detected in the blood. About 50% of the consumed portion is absorbed within 15 minutes. After the stabilization stage of ethyl alcohol concentration in tissues, the process of its elimination, or removal, above all of its toxic metabolites begins (about 10% is removed in unchanged form with urine and exhaled air).
In distillery, so-called raw spirit is produced from starchy raw materials of potatoes, cereals and from raw materials containing sugar molasses, sugar beets, fruit.
Alcohol, or rather beverages containing alcohol, accompany people for centuries. Occasional alcohol consumption usually does not cause addiction, while systematic drinking of even small amounts can lead to a dangerous addiction. Alcohol slows down the activity of the central nervous system, and people who drink it feel relaxed and self-confident (although their speech and coordination of movements are disturbed). Systematic consumption of alcohol is associated not only with the risk of addiction, but also with the risk of liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, certain cancers, gastritis and immunosuppression. Alcohol impairs intestinal peristalsis and absorption of nutrients, causing so-called the “leaky intestine” syndrome, and its habitual drinking leads to malnutrition. It is a kind of paradox, because alcohol and alcoholic beverages themselves have a high energy value.
How many calories?
One gram of alcohol is 7 kcal, which is slightly less than in the case of fat (9 kcal / g). Of course, the caloric value of alcoholic beverages depends on the content of the alcohol itself as well as the presence of other “energy” components of sugar, protein and fat. For example
Disposable drinking 100 ml of pure vodka is not a common phenomenon, but the consumption of one or two beers is not particularly special among men. Calculation of the energy value of such a “portion” is simple, but often we do not treat it “Drinks” as a source of energy, forgetting about them in the diet. Few people know that a liter of beer is about 500 kcal, and if we reach for popular finger food snacks (100 g – about 500 kcal), peanuts (for example, peanut – about 560 kcal), then the energy value of such “pleasure” may come up to 1000 kcal. This is the energy value of a “solid” dinner. If such situations happen only once a week, after 2 months you can expect an extra kilogram of weight. Therefore, in the case of diets slimming an important recommendation is to avoid drinking alcohol. In some cases, giving up on drinking alone can contribute to weight loss.
