Implant constructed by scientists from the team of prof. Wanga is less than 1 centimeter in diameter.

It is implanted in the stomach in a non-invasive manner, and it is placed on the spot producing electrical impulses that stimulate the vagus nerve and through it the brain. As a result, the patient with the implant feels full after only a few bites of food.

Implants that stimulate the vagus nerve already exist. One of them is, for example, Maestro, approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) in 2015. It works by completely disrupting any communication between the brain and the stomach, but it needs a complicated controller and large batteries that need to be charged several times a week with an external charger. Wang’s implant has the advantage of not having complicated electronics and does not need power. Energy provides him with natural stomach movements.

However, let’s not get any optimism, let’s not look for a clinic in Poland that performs implantation of a new implant. Research on it is currently at the stage of trials on rats. It is also worrying that, although tests have shown that animals implanted around 40% after implantation. weight, but after 12 weeks they were removed and returned to their previous diet, their weight also returned to their previous value. Therefore, the implant decreases when we use a proper diet in parallel and, as you can see, it does not slow down permanently.

Professor Wang is a world-class expert in the field of energy-generating devices.

He constructed, among others implantable nanogenerators supplying the beating of the human heart and a bandage that heals wounds driven by the movement of the body. The new slimming implant has already been patented. If further animal testing yields successful results, studies involving patients will begin.
