What is caloria?
Caloria is a unit of energy. We tend to associate calories with food, but they are found in everything that contains energy. For example, a gallon (4 liters) of gasoline has approximately 31,000,000 calories.
Especially, calorie is the sum of energy or capacity, it causes a temperature increase of 1 g water by 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Farenhajta). One calorie contains 4.184 Joules and is a widely used unit and physical examinations.
The same applies to fitness – when the trainer tells you to burn 100 calories for every mile of running, he’s about 100 kilocalories. For the duration of this article, when we talk about calories, we mean “kilocalorie.” (Ps. 1 Kcal = 1000kal, writing calorie is about kcal, the same is in total in life).
What do calories do?
People need energy to survive – to breathe, to move, to pump blood – they derive energy from food. The amount of calories in food is a measure of how much potential energy is found in some amount of food. I play carbohydrates has 4 calories, gram of protein also 4 grams of fat 9 calories. Foods are made of these 3 “bricks. So if you know how many carbohydrates / proteins / fats are in a given product, you already know how much calories there are, or how much energy it contains. If we look at the food table at the back of the packet / product of brown (?) Oatmeal, we find information that they contain 160 calories. It means that if we pour these flakes into the dish, “we give them to the fire and leave them to completely burn (which is currently very difficult), 160 kilocalories will be released in the reaction (remember the calories are kilocalories) – enough energy to raise the temperature of the weighing 160 kilogram water by 1 degree Celsius.
If we look closer at the food table, we see that our flakes contain 2grams of fat, 4 grams of protein and 32 grams of carbohydrates, producing 162 calories (apparently, manufacturers like to round down). Of these 162 calories, 12 are from fat (9cal x 2g), 16 are from protein (4cal x 4g) and 128 are from w (4cal x 32g).
Our body “burns calories from oat flakes in metabolic processes, using enzymes that break down carbohydrates into glucose and other sugars, fats into glycerol and fatty acids and amino acids.
These molecules are transported through the bloodstream to the cells, where each of them is absorbed for immediate use or sent to the final metabolism, in which they enter into oxidative reactions releasing accumulated energy.
How many calories do you need?
How many calories do our cells need for proper functioning? The number of them varies from person to person. You should list in the food tables the products you buy so that “the amount of daily value is 2,000 calories.
2,000 calories is the approximate average that each person should eat during the day, it is possible that your body needs more or fewer calories than 2000. Growth, weight, sex, age and activity affect the needs of your body.
The thermal effect of eating
About 10% of the calories you eat are used for the metabolic processes of the products you eat. When your body is processing food, it burns energy and releases heat. This applies to thermogenesis. If you consume 3000kcal, about 300 of them will be used for metabolic processes. The thermal effect means that a different amount of calories needs to be processed into a particular food ingredient. Protein processing releases the most energy, while fat is the least.
