Why reach for colorful, full of chemical substances, drinks, when mother nature has prepared a special drink for athletes? It contains everything that drinks created in chemical laboratories and even much more. What are we talking about? About coconut water.

Coconut water contains five times more potassium than Gatorade or Powerade (coconut water up to 1500 mg / l, and Powerade drinks up to 300 mg / l), and thus more effectively prevents painful muscle cramps. In this respect, coconut water also pierces bananas, which are considered due to the high content of potassium as the ideal fruit for active people. The sodium content in coconut water is in turn lower and amounts to 400 mg / l or 200 mg / l less than sports drinks. This is not a problem for people using medium intensity efforts. However, athletes who train more intensively, according to scientists, can compensate for this difference by adding a pinch of salt to the coconut water.

The content of magnesium and carbohydrates in coconut water is the same as in drinks created in laboratories. Another advantage of coconut water is the high content of antioxidants, which neutralize free radicals formed in the body also under the influence of physical exercise. In addition, this natural isotonicity does not cause allergic reactions that may occur in the case of sports drinks – the appetizing colors give these beverages artificial colors.

Coconut water is a clear liquid inside an unripened coconut. It has long been popular in the tropics, where it can be drunk with a straw straight from the nut shell. Currently, coconut water can be bought all over the world, because it is bottled or canned.

In the world, the price of sports drinks and coconut water is similar. In Poland, for 0.5 liter of this natural isotonics, you have to pay at least PLN 8-9, so twice as much as a sports drink. The difference is therefore significant. Everyone who counts every zloty and trains so intensively that it is not enough for them to use ordinary water, it is worth suggesting that it is worth exchanging artificial isotonics for the natural one at least once in a while. Investment in health always pays off.
