ASPARAGINE ACID (40% Aspartame)
Dr Russell L. Blaylock, professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of Mississippi, has recently published a book detailing the damage caused by eating excessive amounts of aspartic acid from aspartame. Ninety-nine percent of mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) (i.e., monosodium glutamate, a soy sauce ingredient, flavor enhancer found in magi spices) is glutamic acid. The damage it causes is also documented by Blaylock’s book. Blaylock refers to nearly 500 scientific reports showing how an excess of free excitatory amino acids such as aspartic and glutamic acid in our diet causes serious chronic neurological diseases and a myriad of other acute symptoms.

A brief description of the mechanism of damage caused by aspartate (and glutamate). Asparaginate and glutamate act as neurotransmitters in the brain, facilitating transmission of information from the neuron to the neuron. An excess of aspartate or glutamate in the brain kills certain neurons causing the cells to enter too much calcium. Influencing too much calcium triggers an excessive amount of free radicals that kill cells. Because excessive amounts of aspartate and glutamate can damage the nerve cell, these compounds are called “excitotoxins”. “They excite or excite nerve cells to death. Aspartic acid is an amino acid. Excessive amounts of glutamate and aspartate slowly begin to destroy neurons. The majority (over 75%) of nerve cells in a particular area of the brain are killed before any clinical symptoms of a chronic disease become noticeable. Some of the many chronic diseases where it has been shown that long-term exposure to excitatory amino acids contribute to the observed lesions are multiple sclerosis, Als, Memory loss, hormonal problems, hearing loss, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, blood glucose deficiency (hypoglycemia), dementia associated with AIDS, brain damage, and neuroendocrine disorder.
You read it and think eee! This Dr Mercola only scares you! Truth? If it were the way he writes, aspartame could not be sold and certainly could not be given to children in the form of chewing gum or diet drinks. Oh, unfortunately, he could! And not long you will learn how.
The risk of excitotoxins in newborns, children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with certain chronic health problems is great. Even the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), which usually tackles problems in a very delicate way and reflects official FDA opinions, recently stated in the published review that “it is prudent to avoid taking dietary supplements of L acid -glutamate by pregnant women, newborns and children. The existence of evidence of potential endocrine reactions, in the form of elevated levels of cortisol and prolactin, and a diversified reaction in men and women would also suggest a neuroendocrine cell and the recommendation of women avoiding the reproductive period and people suffering from mental illness (from the circle of cyclophores) additions of L-glutamic acid derivatives. Aspartame aspartic acid has the same harmful effects on the body as glutamic acid.

Another is Olney, professor of psychiatry faculty, School of Medicine, Washington University, neuroscientist and researcher, and one of the greatest authorities in the field of excitotoxins in the world.
