The ready diets used by Poles came to us from various corners of the world.Although the main goal of each of them is weight reduction, the authors of individual diets have a different opinion about what is the best way to get rid of excess weight.This is easy to see, for example, the South Beach diet and the Parisian diet.
South Beach diet
The Diet of the South Beach was developed by the American cardiologist Arthur Agaton.It is not only a reduction diet, but also a lifelong nutrition that is supposed to promote health and help maintain a slim figure.Dr Agaton emphasized limiting the consumption of carbohydrates, this principle applies to both simple and complex sugars.The Sout Beach diet also provides for a temporary reduction in the amount of fat consumed, while protein products and vegetables are recommended.One of the advantages of this diet is the fact that you do not need to count calories and macronutrients, and you can afford to eat up to your heart, provided you choose the right products.The diet also gives a certain amount of freedom regarding the time and number of meals, although according to the author, the best solution is three meals and two snacks during the day.Dr Agaton shared his diet in three stages.
The first one lasts only 2 weeks.This is the most restrictive phase in which the basic element of the menu are selected vegetables and lean meat.It is forbidden to eat dairy products, which means that you need to take calcium supplements.The black list also includes bread, potatoes and caffeinated beverages.In the first phase of the South Beach diet, foods with a low glycemic index are eaten, which may result in lowering blood sugar levels and fatigue.According to assurances, the creators of the diet, in the first two weeks you can get rid of even 6 kg of overweight.

During the second stage, fruit, bread, dark chocolate and other products containing more carbohydrates are added to the menu.It is important that these changes take place gradually and are combined with the observation of your body.There are products that at this stage can be consumed sporadically, in small quantities.These are wheat bread, cakes, pastries, pasta and other wheat flour products, white rice, corn and cornflakes, beets, carrots, potatoes, jams, honey, ice-cream, raisins, watermelon, pineapple, bananas, fruit juices and fruits from cans.This phase should be continued until the correct weight is obtained.
Then, go to the third stage, during which the most important thing is that the products with a low glycemic index dominate in the diet.This rule must be followed throughout life.
As with any other diet, there are some contraindications to the use of weight loss methods developed by Arthur Agaton. Due to the mentioned drop in blood sugar, the South Beach diet is not suitable for people suffering from hypoglycaemia.Diabetes should first consult a physician, because if new nutritional principles are combined with the medicines used, the glucose level may be significantly reduced.The problem may also occur in the case of high cholesterol, because a lot of eggs are found in the standard South Beach diet menu.However, you can replace them with poultry or fish.
The author of the Paris diet is Jean-Michel Cohen, a well-known nutritionist from France.In contrast to the diet of South Beach, after the end of weight loss, you can return to the normal way of eating.Cohen also divided his diet program into three stages.
The first one imposes strict dietary principles, so in the case of contraindications to such diets you can go straight to the second stage of weight loss.Cafe phase lasts from 8 to 10 days, and the amount of calories consumed daily is only 700-800, which allows you to lose weight at a rate of 0.5 kg per day.The basis of the menu are soups, cocktails and other low-calorie dishes.Due to the possibility of dangerous deficiencies, you should reach for vitamin supplements and magnesium.
The second stage is also quite difficult, because you can eat from 900 to 1000 kcal per day.It lasts 2-3 weeks, during which you can lose weight from 3.5 to 5 kg.The products envisaged in this phase are rich in protein and fiber.In order to avoid monotony, Cohen provided for three versions of the menu, which can be used alternately, as well as a list of substitutes that allow you to modify the menu according to your preferences.
According to the assurances of the creator of the Paris diet, the third phase is to enable the taste of good food.It should be continued until the desired weight is reached.Cohen prepared five Classic, Potato, Noodle, Sandwich and Vegetarian menus.This does not mean, however, that you can afford large meals.The daily dose of calories is 1100-1200 kcal.
Getting out of the diet
Avoiding the yo-yo effect requires a reasonable exit from the diet after the third phase of weight loss.According to the author of the diet, the number of full, freely composed meals should be gradually increased.Cohen described this concept as a meal consisting of three parts – two chosen at will and a third dietetic one.Initially, the number of such meals per week is only three, while after two weeks, it can be increased to five.
The Parisian diet is very restrictive, not only during the first stage, which can be omitted.For this reason, it should only be used by healthy people.In case of any diseases, before switching to a diet, consult a physician.
The South Beach diet and the Paris diet are different in many respects.Apart from certain diseases, the safest proposition is the first one.The South Beach Diet is also a better option due to the possibility of eating to your heart’s content, making it easier to survive until the end of weight loss.However, when choosing a diet, you should also take into account other issues, such as dietary preferences, the amount of excessive kilograms and the time when you want to get a slim figure.
